BBA

Introduction

Apart from BBS and MBS studies, SDC introduced a new programme Bachelor
of Business Administration (BBA) of Tribhuvan University in 2002. TU BBA,
a four year, 120 credit hour, new academic programme, is an object-oriented
business management programme. It is a full time day programme under
Faculty of Management (FOM), TU with 8 semesters covering an international
standard period of 4 years. The programme aims to prepare knowledgeable,
skillful, confident, and self-motivated professionals who will be able to
perform competitively in organizations of the modern age.
The BBA programme is a practical and valuable means of gaining a business
qualification that provides an exposure to the challenges of doing business
in a global context. The programme has a wide coverage of conceptual
inputs and has emphasis on practical applications that familiarize students
with the overall functioning of organizations and their interactions with the
total environment within which they operate.

Flourishing and glorious post of BBA Programme of Shanker Dev Campus (SDC) gives me an immense pleasure to invite you fresher
to i in the BBA and BBA-Finance Programme in SDC and be the part of the best.
All the BBA graduates from SDC showed their excellence in national and global arena. They received scholarship in prestigious universities in the world and they hove been doing excellent work in leading financial institutions, multinational corporations, NGOs, INGOs and government offices. Some of them established their own business organization and providing opportunity for others. The success and popularity of the course lies with the hard work and dedication of the management team and the faculty members, discipline and devotion of the students and cooperation from the parents.

Message from the Duputy Director

Objectives

The mission of FOM’s Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) Programme is to develop socially responsive, creative, and result oriented management professionals to fill up the middle level managerial positions in the rapidly growing business sector in Nepal and abroad.

 

The specific objectives of the BBA programme are to:

⦁ Prepare students to take-up middle level managerial positions in the business sector

⦁ Develop students’ skill in obiect-oriented business management capable of understanding and solving practical business problems creatively.

⦁ Provide professional management education with a blend of computer and management information system courses.

⦁ Prepare students to proceed onto post graduate level study in business administration.

Eligibility

The candidate applying for admission to the BBA program of Tribhuvan University must have:
1. secured at least 2.41 CGPA with at least grade 'C' in each subject or 60% in  10+2 equivalent programmme
2. successfully completed a twelve-year schooling or its equivalent from any university, board
or institution recognized by Tribhuvan University.
3. passed  entranc test (CMAT)
Eligible applicants are required to appear in the entrance test commonly known as Central Management Admission Test (CMAT) conducted by the Faculty of Management. The test will
follow the international testing pattern and standards. It includes the areas like:
• Verbal ability
• Quantitative ability
• Logical reasoning
• General awareness
There shall be altogether one hundred (100) objective questions in the CMAT containing twenty
(25) questions in each section with a total weight of 100 marks. Student must secure a minimum
of 40% in the CMAT in order to qualify for the interview.
Interview
Applicants securing above cut off point marks in the CMAT will be short-listed. Only short listed
candidates will be interviewed and selected for admission.
Merit List
Admissions of the students in BBA program of Tribhuvan University will be strictly on the basis of
merit list. Merit list is prepared on the basis of:
1. 60% of CMAT Entrance examination
2. 30% of marks secured in percentage in plus two or equivalent
3. 10% Interview

Teaching Pedagogy

Student-centered teaching is what the basic of BBA is. SDC BBA faculty members are exceptionally
qualified and experienced in student-centered teaching system. Besides, most of them are
researchers and experts in their respective fields, who possess expert knowledge of their subject
of area as well as all essential pedagogical skills.
This technologically advanced and student-centered teaching follows the following pedagogical
procedures in SDC:
• Classroom Lectures
• Practical Exercises
• Group Discussion & Group Exercises
• Case Studies
• Laboratory Works
• Project Works, Term Papers and Presentations
• Seminars
• Internship

Evaluation and Grading

The students will be evaluated according to the
evaluation and grading system of FOM, TU.
Evaluation of students will be made through
In-Semester Assessment and End-Semester
Examination. In-Semester Assessment is internal
assessment that covers 40% and End-Semester
Examination covers 60% of the overall evaluation.
In semester examination, all student must secure a
minimum of grade point 2.7 in an individual paper,
which is a B–. But the student should secure at least
3.0 CGPA (Grade B) to pass the semester. In
internal assessment, student must secure at least
3.0 GP

Internal Assessment & Evaluation

Internal assessment evaluation includes First and Second Assessments
and Pre-Semester Send-up Test, which constitute 40% marks. The marking
of Internal Evaluation of Students’ performance has been divided into
following sub-divisions:
• I & II Assessments
• Pre-Semester Send-up Test
• Attendance
• Discipline
• Homework / Class work
• Group Discussion / Group Exercise
• Presentation and Problem Solving
• Field or Project Work

Scholarship and Awards

• Full Semester tuition fee will be waived to the semester topper in each semester.
• Two students in each section will get 50% scholarship of total fee as per the provision of Office of the
Dean, Faculty of Management.

• Dr. GOVINDARAM AGRAWAL Medal will awarded to the student for securing highest CGPA in BBA.
• Prof. Dr. MANOHAR KRISHNA-RIMA DEVI Medal will be awarded to the student who secure highest
CGPA taking Finance as specialization.
